Originally built in the late 1950s, Annandale Terrace Elementary School underwent a phased-occupied renovation. The project comprised renovating the existing 64,000 sf school and adding additional space of 37,500 sf. A new addition houses the library and two stories of classrooms while a separate addition houses an administrative area. Comprehensive interior renovations touched all parts of the school including the gymnasium, cafeteria, kitchen, music room, and selected classrooms. New systems include electrical, lighting, communications, and fire alarm systems with fully automatic sprinklers. The mechanical system employs ceiling-mounted VRF units which run quietly and free up floor space. The existing elevator was replaced with a new elevator. New windows, doors, tubular skylights, and finishes brought a fresh aesthetic to the interior environment. The play areas will be modified by relocating the playgrounds and the softball field.
