NewCity Church & Community Center in Vienna, Virginia, underwent a major adaptive-reuse renovation of a 1984 office building to create a renewed home for families, faith, and community. The redesign introduced a light-filled worship hall that doubles as a recreational space, a communal café, dedicated areas for kids and students, and modern upgrades throughout. A key highlight involved removing the second floor above existing offices to form the double-volume, multipurpose area. Automated multi-level shades, simple finishes, and LVT flooring make the multipurpose space adaptable for worship and events like kickball or dance classes at any time of day. This project showcases adaptive reuse at its best, preserving the building's integrity while transforming it into a flexible, worship and recreational facility. The design maintained continuity for existing tenants and upgraded building systems to ensure safety and comfort, all while fostering connection and growth.
