Loudoun County Advances New Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter (LAWS) Project

Wednesday, April 29, 2026

LAWS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services has surpassed $9.4 million in fundraising toward a new shelter and community service center in Loudoun County. The project is supported by a combination of public funding and private contributions, including a $4 million grant from Loudoun County.

Architecture, Incorporated is serving as the designer for the new facility, which will provide emergency shelter, interim housing, and support services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Planned to include approximately 20–25 private units and up to 50 beds, the new building will replace the organization’s existing 12-bed shelter and expand its capacity to meet growing community needs.

Designed to support safety, dignity, and long-term stability, the facility will incorporate secure, private living environments alongside spaces for counseling, advocacy, and community support. The project reflects LAWS’ mission to provide not only refuge, but a path toward healing and independence for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.

The project reflects a continued investment in community-based resources across Loudoun County.
