The recently completed Inova Sports Medicine facility has been recognized by the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Development with an Honor award in the 2019 James M. Scott Exceptional Design Awards program. Established in 1984, the Fairfax County Exceptional Design Awards recognize achievement in the total design of a building and its site. The award's aim is to raise awareness of outstanding planning and design projects among design professionals and the general public.

The judges said of the project, “The jury enjoyed the consistency of iconic themes throughout this creative interior, reflecting exterior themes which are incorporated on the interior forms with a nice use of materials and color.”
