Environmental Facts and Figures Sustainable Projects LEED-NC 2009 Certified Project Name: Loudoun County Emergency Homeless Shelter LEED point strategy: Energy star HVAC system; solar roof panels; high recycled content interior finish materials; 75% construction waste recycling; alternative transportation (public, bicycle & hybrid parking); non-heat island roof; low VOC interior finishes; LEED AP staff Achieved: Project is slated to achieve basic LEED certification with a minimum of 26 points. From more than 2,500 nominated projects, the Loudoun County Homeless Shelter was selected as a Green Building of America Award-winning project and was featured in the magazine Real Estate and Construction Review - Green Success Stories Edition. Project Name : Cleveland Clinic – 4th Floor, Weston, FL LEED point strategy: Architecture, Incorporated designed the renovation to the existing administration area of the fourth floor. The renovation entailed converting the administration area into clinic space. The area which consists of 20,600 square feet included new waiting areas, new exam rooms and procedure rooms, as well as new physician offices. Achieved: Project is seeking LEED Gold certification with a minimum of 32 points. LEED-CI 2.0 Silver Project Name : Hope Hospice and Community Services
The proposed project is the construction of a 24-bed in-patient care hospice facility, including 16 inpatient beds and 8 residential beds. The facility is a two-story, 45,176 sf building with 40,670 sf on the first floor and 5,063 sf on the second. The site is approximately 5.6 acres in Lehigh Acres, Florida. The building will assume the vernacular of the region, reflecting Old Florida style features such as deep roof overhangs to protect windows from the sun, deep front porches, reflective metal and TPO roofing for energy efficiency, and a simplicity and elegance in construction. Landscaping around the building will feature plantings native to Florida; the site will be reminiscent of an old Florida plantation. Views for the patients will feature several planned gardens and lush planted buffers at the perimeter of the site. The project is seeking a LEED-NC certification from the United States Green Building Council. Project Name : Pavillion at Healthpark The proposed project is the construction of a 76-bed in-patient psychiatric hospital facility. The facility will house four nursing units: a 19-Bed Seniors Transitions Program, a 19-Bed Seniors Intervention Program, a 19-Bed Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, and a19-Bed Adult Treatment Program. The facility is a three-story, 64,000 sf building with 10,153 sf on the first floor and 26,814 sf on the second and third floors respectively. The site is approximately 3.85 acres in located in unincorporated Lee County, Florida. The project is attempting LEED-NC Silver which is a minimum of 50 points. LEED certified Project Name : Architecture, Incorporated Design Studio LEED point strategy: Energy Star equipment & appliances, Building Reuse (existing garage), Natural Daylighting & Views in 90% of spaces high recycled content interior finish materials, 50% construction waste recycling, Development Density alternative transportation (bicycle storage & public transportation), non-heat island roof, low VOC interior finishes, LEED AP staff, Innovation in Design - Outdoor Garden Architecture, Incorporated won a Fairfax County design award for our office.
Project Name : Salamander Resort & Spa LEED point strategy: Energy star HVAC system with heat recovery; high recycled content materials; Regionally sourced materials, 75% construction waste recycling; alternative transportation (bicycle & hybrid parking); non-heat island roof; low VOC interior finishes; LEED AP staff Achieved: Project is slated to achieve LEED certification with a minimum of 26 points. When it opens in March 2011, the resort will become one of the first luxury destination resort and spas in the United States to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. In addition to the building’s physical characteristics, which include extensive waste, water and energy management programs, Resort Management Company Salamander Hospitality is creating a practical program in which group attendees can participate in environmental sustainability.
