Health... Without it, they have nothing...
Healthcare... The most rewarding contribution one can
deliver.
What sets you apart from your competition is the quality
of care you provide, your understanding of the community and their needs
as well as the complexities of delivering care in this regulated environment.
Challenges abound from insurance providers, a diminishing
skilled workforce, and the rising costs of technology. Never has the
need for intelligent design been more important.
Space, efficiency, multi–use environments, reduced
construction cost... All key in today's healthcare business environment.
Yet patient satisfaction remains essential in supporting your mission.
Architecture Inc. understands these precepts. We know the value of time,
space and staffing efficiency. We have seen the evolution of healthcare
delivery over time and work with you to anticipate future needs.
Healing Environments have emerged to satisfy the core
human needs of safety, hope and spirit by carefully and thoughtfully
blending space, light, and functional solutions to maintain the patients
connection with their community. This connection to family and normal
activity is important to maintaining a patients sense of hope and confidence.
The environment you provide to diagnose and treat has never been more
important to your physicians and patients. Our vision and understanding
of healthcare solutions is only one of the strengths that set us apart.
We care.
Alexandria Department of Health
Alexandria, VA

The City of Alexandria, Virginia enlisted Architecture, Inc. to spearhead the design and consolidation of multiple outpatient clinics in the existing City Health Department offices in the Northern Virginia area. The clinics averaged approximately 3,000 square feet and encompassed several different programs in the many facilities. We created a main entry and waiting room where all patients register and complete any documentation. The exam rooms were central to the nursing area to provide an overlap in nursing care when an emergency required extra staff. The clinic included a Tuberculosis Clinic, an STD Clinic, an AIDS clinic, Women Services as well as a Lab, X–Ray and Nursing administration.
A theme was designed for visitors to use in finding their way throughout the clinic. Each department, clinic, and floor was tagged with an icon allowing the multilingual community to comfortably move throughout the clinic.
Fauquier Hospital
Warrenton, VA

Architecture Inc. was selected to design this two–story,
45,000 square foot medical office building for the Fauquier Hospital
in Warrenton, Virginia. The building was to be used as swing space for
the displaced offices in the hospital as a result of a major hospital
expansion. The steep terrain was used to provide on–grade entrances
from both floors and easy access to the hospital.
INOVA Alexandria Hospital
Alexandria, VA

Architecture, Inc. designed and managed the renovation of the hospital's emergency department. This renovation included various nurses stations, an express treatment area and clean rooms.
We have maintained an open–ended contract with INOVA Alexandria Hospital for on–going services since 1992. In addition to our work with the Emergency Department, we also have provided design services for various expansions and/or renovations to Alexandria's Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Department, Labor and Delivery and the Physical Medicine Department.
Mary Washinton Hospital
Fredericksburg, VA

Architecture Inc. was selected to design this three-story, 104,000 square
feet Life Sciences Building for Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg,
Virginia. The building was designed to provide a 35,000 square foot
Outpatient Surgery Center and a 25,000 square feet Imaging Center
with two MRI magnets, Cath Labs, and CAT Scanner. The second and third
floors are to be support spaces and offices.
The facility was adjacent to the hospital and will be connected by a pedestrian bridge. In close coordination with hospital administrators, Architecture, Inc. also provided Mary Washington Hospital with master planning services for various clinical and laboratory departments.
Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice
Bonita Springs, Florida

Joanne’s House is a 24-bed facility organized into three 8-bed wings. Each
wing is designed to evoke Mediterranean courtyards. Clerestories permit
daylight to enter, filling the space with light that casts shifting shadows
back onto the tiled courtyard floor.
The patient rooms feel like bedrooms. An armoire and custom casework
hide the television and oxygen, and provide a place for personal items.
Home-like finishes and comfortable furniture, ceiling fans, a private bath
with tile floors, and a private lanai are the finishing touches that allow
patients to feel that they have come home.
A large portion of the building is dedicated to Hope Hospice’s home team. This
part of the building includes administrative and meeting spaces, as well as support
space and a full-service commercial kitchen that also supports a café.
A covered drop-off leads to the Grand Lobby and Reception. Here under the
vaulted ceiling of the lobby, donors to Hope Hospice’s mission will be
honored on glass plaques around a custom water wall.
The Chapel features a high coffered ceiling with pendant lights. A back-lit
stained-glass wall is the focal point of the chapel. The chapel serves its purpose
well; peaceful, simple, yet vibrant, it is conducive to both contemplating life
and celebrating it.
Hope Hospice has made great effort to provide a facility that represents
what is important to them: quality care, community support, and dignity
of life. The
facility supports these functions in its architecture and reflects these values
to all who live, work and visit Joanne’s House.
PersonaLabs
Various Locations

Establishing a new business venture required an overall look, budget,
and scheme.
Architecture Inc was commissioned to assist the client by helping
to hone-in on the aesthetics, creating a space that flows and functions
effectively.
As a medical testing center, PersonaLabs offers the public a facility
to anonymously handle testing, data, and the like.
Privacy is key.
The design and movement through the space allows patients to enter,
meet with a technician, and leave with complete anonymity. Selected
materials are clean, pleasing, and precise. Lighting is functional
without being overwhelming. Scale and proportion were also taken into
consideration in regards to providing a complete design for the client.
As the first center opened in South West Florida, replication of
the design allows the client to open facilities throughout the nation
with ease.
